ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Madalena Noyes is an artist working in New York City. She creates ceramic sculpture, animation, installation and immersive worlds, and writes and illustrates childrens books. She received a BFA from Lyme Academy in 2015. See the about section for more detailed information, including her resume and external links.
She uses a variety of media, as seen in the images above. Her installation work is done with cut paper that is glued, taped and adhered in place using a method that relies on tension between the pieces to remain intact. If one is removed, like dominoes, the whole installation collapses. It was located at Lyme Academy in 2015 in a corridor-shaped space, 15 feet long, 10 feet tall, and 5 feet wide. See the artist statement page for a conceptual look at the artistic intentions of the piece.
Madalena makes ceramic pieces that stem from charcoal drawings that are about the relationship between people and their surroundings.
